    Bumblefoot question

I have vinyl underneath the shavings in the nest box so hopefully that portion shouldn’t be an issue, the inside floor is expanded horse stall pellets and some leftover shavings. I switched over to the pellets begining of March. I’ll go check the roost bar again, I didn’t feel anything...

    Bumblefoot question

I’m always alone wrangling them so it’s hard to catch/hold/take photos. I’ll try to though next time I catch one. It looked like classic bumblefoot though on the bottom middle pad.

    Bumblefoot question

Fairly new chicken mom. I have 15 girls, they just turned a year old. I noticed the other day that one of them had a slightly swollen foot, so I investigated and realized she had bumblefoot. None of the others had swollen feet/lameness or showed any signs but I started checking their feet and at...

    Bald patch

Trying to figure out what’s going on with my girl here. In a flock of 15. I brought her in for a “bath” because I had seen a bit of poop on her bum feathers. (Fluffy butt) When I picked her up I noticed the bald patch on her belly. Hard to tell in the pic but she’s sitting on her bottom here...

    New layers

Ya I have fake eggs in the boxes but doesn’t seem to matter to them so far. I just went out again and found an egg up top again. I guess blocking off the rafters will be my only option, hopefully they’ll start using the boxes and not in the run.

    New layers

Hello! I’m a new chicken mom and my girls have just started laying. Well, 2 of the 15 so far. My issue is that they aren’t laying in their boxes. So the first girl (sapphire gem) started laying about a week ago. First two eggs I found in the run. The rest I’ve been finding up in the rafters of...

    Roosting question

The nesting boxes are external, so the roof is pitched over like that so that water runoff doesn’t just drop down into them. I didn’t build it though 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol.

    Roosting question

Hello! New chicken mom here. My chickens are just about to be 18 weeks. Currently they have a 2x4 roost on the other side of the coop, however most of them choose to roost up in the rafters. My question is….is this bad? (Besides being annoying to have to scrape/clean every morning) I’m guessing...

    Molting?

Hello! New chicken mom here. I’ve got 15 chickens all at 15 weeks old. They look like crap right now and I’m trying to figure out if it’s one of their juvenile molts or something else. I’ll attach pics. You can see the white tips on their heads and how scraggly they look. Also, coop looks like a...
