Hello! New chicken mom here. My chickens are just about to be 18 weeks. Currently they have a 2x4 roost on the other side of the coop, however most of them choose to roost up in the rafters. My question is….is this bad? (Besides being annoying to have to scrape/clean every morning)

I’m guessing the other roost bar is less preferred as it sits eye level with the windows. But there is nowhere else to move it but up higher. Thoughts?

The cardboard is about to be removed, it has been blocking the nesting boxes.

In my experience pullets are adventurous with where they want to go, I doubt they'll keep roosting there once they're more matured and larger physical size.

If you don't want them there, block them off. You could easily screw a removable board in that spot to block it off temporarily.

x2 on that's some odd construction

That is some odd looking construction.
The nesting boxes are external, so the roof is pitched over like that so that water runoff doesn’t just drop down into them. I didn’t build it though 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol.

What's weird is the way the rafters meet(or rather don't) the walls.
Pics from the outside?
