    Drake suddenly attacking duck!!

It is weird how it suddenly happens, the additions to the flock do sometimes upset the pecking order, but sadly as I said once the drake has singled her out there is not much you can do. I tried everything, even going to the lengths of having a hormone inhibitory implant in my drake and the...

    Drake suddenly attacking duck!!

This is normal, and frustrating as once he has decided he wants her out of the flock there is not much you can do. I have had this twice and eventually had to re-home the females in question, their lives just become miserable and they spend their days hiding from the drake. Give it a few...

    pekin or aylesbury

Hiya it is unlikely to be either if it was from a feed store. probably just your standard pekin 'type' duck that is bred for meat and eggs, they are gorgeous though and have lovely personalities True pekin and Aylesburys ducks are rarely found at feed stores.

    Supplemental Lighting

Ahh duckies with a night light, bless em. best only let them have natural light as unnatural light plays havoc with their daily rhythms. Their lives revolve around light hours, it affects their hormones and all sorts. Leaving a light on 24 hours a day is actually harmful for them. Natural...

    Is it wrong?

Hiya, I have just read this thread. Firstly - sorry to hear of your situation. Secondly - if you have never killed a duck before, DO NOT ATTEMPT IT! They have very strong necks! They need to be electrically stunned then have both carotid arteries cut and bled, any other way and they will...
