duck very unsteady on her feet the last few days

So she is eating good and has normal poos? and you haven't noticed any improvement at all? you've looked at the bottom of her feet real good? don't notice any swelling or tenderness when feeling over her legs? could she have jump off of something and injured her back and this is causing her to be wobblie? do they ever fly up onto things? what breed is she?

she is a mutt runner mix I think. I have inspected her legs and feet and see nothing wrong. She never has left the ground, occasionally she would run and flap like crazy but never gets off the ground. she does not seem to be in pain so im not sure about injury. normal poo and eating patterns from what i can tell. I ahve only the 2 ducks, 15 turkeys and about 2 dozen chickens in the yard so I generally dont see who is messing where.

Why don't you try getting some brewers yeast and putting some on her feed, I just sprinkle a tablespoon onto their food in the morning. could be she is having a vitamin deff. hope someone else will get on here with some other answers.

im not up on my duck husbandry duties to be honest. They eat 30% game bird feed and scratch and whatever bugs tehy find in the yard. I dont have any weeds or grass for the most part growing due to our drought conditions. they get two duck pools drained and filed every day or so to play and dunk goodies in. Not sure about what vitamins might cause this. The drake is doing great and he is about 3 lbs larger and i would think anything diet wise would effect him first.

Not necessarily, just like humans animals can have deficencies and we don't all asimulate vitamins and minerals the same so the drake may not have a problem and the female have one.

Is she laying? Might she be eggbound, with the egg pressing on nerves that affect her legs? I'd be giving her vitamin/electrolyte/probiotic mix, and having her swim in lukewarm water for a while to see if that helps.

I agree it could be vitamin deficiency, pinched nerve, or toxins, just the first things to come to mind. How's her breathing?

You just have one female and one drake - sometimes drakes pay too much attention, breeding wise, to a duck. How is that going between them?

(Nosy, aren't I?

Louie the drake is paying attention to anything that moves. He is chasing the chicken hens around every day. Once he even tried with one of my turkey hens. She did not run and did NOT find his amorous attention appealing.

Ill get her in the water tomorrow for a warm bath and some playtime.

If Monsieur Louie is spending too much time engaged with Madame, she could get injured. It's just one of the possibilities I'm offering in the hopes you can find what's ailing her and fix it.

Would it be possible to have them next to each other but with a divider so she can have some time off?

How is your duckie now?

Balance issues (ataxia) can be caused by a number of things.

It may be neurological, caused by a toxin or bacterial infection, or it could be an ear infection or many other things!

You would really need to get her to the vet to get a proper diagnosis and some treatment.
best of luck, I hope she recovers.

she is the same, maybe a little bettery. The wifey gave her tylan 50 yesterday in the hopes it might be an ear infection. Louie is still vigilently standing guard. He has tamed his sex drive and is being very caring of his mate. She is eating and drinking. The wifey is going to put he in a warm bath today and massage her a little to see if egg bound is posibility as was suggested.
