So far, I have caught 2 moms and 2 babies on 4 separate occasions. I have yet to catch the big daddy that I assume has been doing the killing. I've been leaving the trap out most nights.
I really think that the big guy is too smart to get caught. I've had to put weights on top of my trap...
Ok, I just took care of it. Shot him in the head through the wire with a .22. Now all I have to do is shovel and shut up.
Thanks for the help, everybody!

I was definitely planning on keeping the trap set and baited every night. I know that there are a couple of coons in the vicinity as well as possums. I plan to keep it set at lease several days per week now.
We FINALLY caught that murderous jerk! I've been checking that trap everyday for more than 2 weeks...so far we've only managed to catch our cat and yesterday, I caught a hen because I forgot to close the trap in the morning. This morning I finally got the jerk!

So far, the raccoon hasn't come back. I will try using some stronger smelling bait tomorrow...probably tuna. I thought for sure that I'd have a coon in that trap the first night, but it's been 4 nights and nothing biting.

Two of the meat birds were eaten little by little starting with its foot through the chain-linked fence. What a miserable way to go! Another one was eaten without the fence's protection because I got back late from my cousin's Friday night high school graduation ceremony. The birds...
The last few nights we've been getting a meat bird picked off picked off per night by what I assumed was a raccoon.
So I put electric wire around the coop and boarded up the shed well. While these murders were quite an annoyance,
I wasn't crazy upset because it was just a few "meaties" and not...
My girls love earthworms! If you're gonna feed worms to them regularly, buying worms from a store could get pretty
expensive. I would recommend digging them up yourself. Try placing some wood or cardboard on some open dirt and
check back the next day or so. There should be plenty of worms...
