We're working on "varmit-proofing" our chicken yard right now. My husband mentioned putting up twine or something in the yard to keep the hawks at bay. We do love out hawks though. they have kept the squirrel population down to a much more tolerable number! but they do love our gurls. :-( how...

I trekked over the Wetumpka and traded in my rooster for a nice, young, blue Ameracauna. She's so sweet and cute! I just plopped her in the cat carrier in the back of my van and headed back to Auburn.
It was a great day! I got to visit a good friend in Shorter, who fed me a great breakfast...
It appears that one of our "girls" could quite be a Mister Chicken! LOL! One of our Ameracaunas was growing a wee bit faster than the other one. A wee bit noiser than the other one, and getting a wee pit purtyier! Lately "she" has been trying our "her" crowing voice in the mornins!

Like I said, I know of 2 homes in the city limits that have chickens. One is on Dean...
I moved to Auburn about a year ago. Since living here I've met one family that has chickens and know of another family cuz I pass their house every day.
I had to be the goofus to write the city. According to City Code (http://www.auburnalabama.org/code/) raising chickens is not allowed within...
