Will my layer and crested white ducks survive Ian???

Thanks! It's a fairly static pond and there are plenty of bushes. Still - you never know - ducks are fairly vulnerable. They live the happy life of very lucky ducks, but the cost of that is the risk of being on the bottom of the food chain.

Will my layer and crested white ducks survive Ian???

Yes - by morning the storm hadn't gotten too close yet and they were hungry again so they wandered into my yard - easy peasy... So the pond is overfull. I'm about to put them back out - storm well passed now.Should I be concerned about the flooding. They're ducks - I suppose they'll be fine!

Will my layer and crested white ducks survive Ian???

Thank you. I still can get them corralled. The rain has hit - winds aren't horrible yet. This morning at least they will be hungry so I might be able to coral them. I'll get them in the garage!

There are five of them - can they survive 45 mile an hour gusts?

Will my layer and crested white ducks survive Ian???

We can't round them up! Unfortunately someone fed them about 30 minutes ago so they aren't motivated by food - they just run away and hop in the pond and swim away!!!

Those sweet little whiney quiet quacks my ducks make at night. What's that about?

During the day these female peking and white crested boldly wake up the whole neighborhood with their demands through loud loud quacking. It's really cute and everyone loves them. As the sun goes down, they crowd around my fence (they sleep out on the pond at night) and just make these whiney...

Huge sore looking knob on side of white crested duck's head

Update- she's fine - she just healed up in a day and then no problems. Yay!!!

Huge sore looking knob on side of white crested duck's head

Do you think she was attacked or is this a sickness? I've put antibacterial ointment on it. Any other suggestions. She seems to be acting normal but it sure looks painful!

Black Duck Poop from Digging in Black Mulch

They are digging in my garden mulched with black mulch. Should I worry about poisoning. My chemical engineering background tells me to chill out - the mulch is probably dyed with simply carbon which won't hurt them. What do you think?

Too young to be outside in storms?

This is my second batch of ducklings - they were born in mid April. I let them roam in the day within a fenced in areas where I can get them easily. When I go to get them, I try not to chase but rather coax them to me with food - but sometimes, like you, I'm just like - sorry guys - gotta...

Will my ducks be okay outside? I'm a worried duck mom.

This is what I do, and my ducklings are 5 weeks old now. And they have and "auntie" (a 1 year old duck) that hangs with them. I'm in SC so the weather is warm. So as long as it's over 70 during the day I let them hang out with auntie duck in my fenced in back yard. I'm in a neighborhood with...

Duck screams when I leave her run?

I think it's a quack of missing you. I had 3 peking last year. I have a pond in the back and I learned a tough lesson to keep them away from the pond when the water level drops. Their must be some kind of toxins that lurk in the low waters (like the water was 3 foot below normal levels)...

Is it okay to cook your duck's eggs and feed it to her? (Okay I know that sounds bad)

Thanks everyone! Yes I sold some last fall but then I felt awkward about how dirty the eggs looked - I have since found ways to keep their eggs from getting soiled in their little house so I might go back to selling them.
