Is it okay to cook your duck's eggs and feed it to her? (Okay I know that sounds bad)

I recently found out that I can feed chicken eggs to my ducks, but I've got all these duck eggs I don't know what to do with?

I've tried them myself and just don't care for the texture or taste. I have sold some to a local restaurant and I have a neighbor that sometimes takes them.

But many times they get marked with poop and I'm too embarrassed to sell them or give them away for that reason. I feel so awful just tossing them out. She works so hard for them!!

I guess they aren't fertilized so I try to set aside my own repulsion at the idea. But is this something duck owners do, and if so, how often is too much - is it bad for them?

Its great for them actually, great protein! They can even eat it raw

mine get eggs once a week (1 egg between 2 girls, the drakes won’t eat it) and i scramble it

too much egg isn’t healthy for them so once a week should be good, i give the rest of them away but if you have a dog you could feed them to him/her

I wouldn't feed them raw eggs because it can encourage egg eating, but scrambled are absolutely fine.
yeah, I guess thats important to remember, but I find that if I crack an egg into a bowl, without the shell, they dont really start egg eating. I sometimes cook the eggs, sometimes feed it raw, but I never had any egg eating chickens. Although its best not to risk them doing that...:)

Lots of people feed eggs to their birds! It isn't weird at all.

I don't eat my ducks' eggs either. If you have too many eggs to feed back to your ducks, and the eggs aren't tidy enough to sell, you might consider composting the eggs and using the compost to grow treats for your ducks. I do that and grow my ducks lettuce in the spring, cherry tomatoes in the summer, and kale all year around. I still feel a little bad breaking the eggs in the compost... But it is better than the garbage.
