Finally got my first egg on March 17th, so they were 10 1/2 months old when they finally started. The other one started 2 days later and I’ve gotten an egg from both of them every day since! I guess they’re catching up!
I know I’m reviving the dead, but can anyone advise why it would be bad for a yearling to be turning white? I ask, because one of my female Cayugas started turning white at 6 months and at 10 months is about 15% white

Mine are 8 1/2 months old and not laying yet. I think it’s a combination of genetics and time of the year they become “of age” to lay. If it’s in the fall they won’t lay until longer days start in the spring.

I did check her vent, it was clean. nothing noteworthy. The deeper I dug into the feathers, the more I found, but only on the underbelly. Hopefully laid after she died, there were fly's all over. Thanks for the link, I hope I don't have to use it.
