I have four bantam hens that are roughly two months old and have 2 marans(1 rooster and 1 hen) a barnevelder rooster 2 buffs a rir hen and 6 comets and 3 bantam roosters. What I'm wandering is when I can put the bantam hens with the resr of my flock?
They are georgia jumbos and they are about five or six weeks old. Like I said I thought it might be overcrowding but the last batch was bigger than this one and I didn't have this problem.
I had 38 quail in a brooder and now I'm down to about 30. My problem is some are pecking the top of the beaks off and killing the others. I don't think it is overcrowding because my last hatch I had more than this and had no problems. I even put limbs and such in there thinking it might stop it...
The best one is from Rush Lane Poultry. He goes through each step in about four videos. My works great. I have hatched about 200 quail and 10 chickens , I just started with the chickens. I had 12 eggs and got 10 to hatch so that a prettt good hatch rate.
I was thinking it might be a hawk but not sure. I have RIR,comets, buff orp, Barnvelder rooster, 3 bantam roosters, 4 mille fleur hens( I think its spelled right) and just had 10 hatch last night.
I have had three hens turn up missing with no sign. The first time it was just one then a couple of weeks later I lost two in one day. No feathers,no nothing. Both times it was during the day. Anybody got any suggestions.
