yeah i sometimes get all worried its too cold for them, they are my little feather babies after all!
i think little wooly jumpers, scarves and legwarmers would be good, but of course they are wearing feather duvets, so not exactly suffering!
thanks casportpony, ok maybe some baby shampoo would be best.
he doesnt have any deep water while he is in the house and this is just for a small area on his crop down his belly.
he is in the house for a week while the weather is cold, best his leg stays warm! Its either the house or i knit...
Hi all,
Just to clarify, he is a 2 and half year old drake. His bad leg has been an issue from birth and is managed with anti inflamatories when it flares up.
this smell is a more recent thing and is very pungent, not the usuall musky oil smell that the other drakes have.
He is currently in...
Hi all,
So i have a drake that has a bad leg and spends most of his time led down. As such his chest feathers have suffered and got really dirty, despite bathing.
We gave him a warm bath last night and he is inside. But he smells!
We have checked for any infected wounds but there are none...

we then swapped food as we were away from home and the sneezing stopped within a couple of days.
we got home and resumed the food and the sneezing started again. i told the vet and they said possible allergy.

Our avian vet said pellets are ok for her so hence thats what she was given.
One of our other ducks starts sneezing really badly when we feed the other brand available to us. Can remember what it is thats different in the ingredients but its awfull for her she sneezes so hard she bangs her nose.
I do the same with the other ducks, feed out in the morning and they eat what they want, when they want it.
Will try again this weekend cutting out the treats, she has just eaten about a tea spoonfull of pellets.
Vet maybe next week if it continues. i did take her temperature and that is...
sorry, it does sound like I am regecting ideas but i have tried all sorts and i am worried.
What weight of food should she be eating per day? She weights 1.6kg.
my avatar is one of my other feather babies, Aylesbury..
i have tried mushing pellets and no joy with that. i do mix treats in but they are little experts at only eating what they want!
i remember having to disguise tablets in something new each day as they figure it out (other duck with bad...
She has been on layers for about 8 - 9 weeks as she started to refuse her chick crumb.
She is a Khaki x Magpie and is acting like a little cheeky duckling should. She completed her first molt with no issues at all.
i did try removing all the 'treats' but she didnt eat for two days and she...
Hi all,
I have a 18 week old 'duckling' that has decided she doesn't like the layers pellets. she has always been a fussy eater, didnt particularly like chick crumb either, but now she isn't eating them at all (I havn't changed brand throughout. I also can't change brand as I have another duck...
Hi all,
My little Nibbles (girl) has just got this. One eye was gunky with white snotty stuff and the other eye was gunky and bubbly like this one.
Does anyone know if its contagious to my other ducks?
Also did the vet diagnose the problem and what treatment was given?
Waiting for the cets...

His Daddy Duck is home from work this weekend so hoping he can get little lad eating! Think he has fallen out with me, as it me that keeps doing the vet trip and injections! :tongue
