I've had bad luck with this strain of the breed. I've had three hens, all of which layed normal size eggs but it was hard to tell...

    Problems with chickens feet...not bumblefoot.

We had a rough, cold winter. Frostbite would make sense. Combs are just know healed from it. They seem to be getting better. The roo's feet are the worst. I thought maybe the heavier Roos were injuring themselves flying off thier roost. They do seem to be getting better, thanks for the replies.

    Problems with chickens feet...not bumblefoot.

Upon closer inspection, several of my chickens are effected. Swelling starts at the end of the toes almost enveloping the nail in some cases. Seems the back toe is the one most effected. There seems to be no swelling anywhere other than the ends of the toes and up to the first knuckle. Bottoms...

    Problems with chickens feet...not bumblefoot.

About a month ago I had a silkie hen limping and eventually could not stand on the foot affected. The foot appeared to be cut and healing. About a week later her FOOT FELL OFF. I inspected the test of the silkies in that pen and one of my roosters has a toe that appeared to have been broken...

The first one is very dark lots of black and dark bronze. His saddle feathers are all bronze. Fantastic looking roo. The hens. One...

You seem to always provide a better way of looking at things! Let me pick your brain about a few things. All of my sfh's were hatched at the same time from the same parents etc... The darkest too is and has always been the boss of the whole crew. He's obviously matured sooner than the others. I...

These swedes have been a joy to watch grow up. They are so inquisitive, not scared of much and can flat run. My fourteen week old roo is "crowing" already. It's a sad sounding thing, but you wouldn't know it by watching him. He goes nose to nose with my ameracauna roo daily. He seems to forget...

    My watering idea

The lid on the igloo cooler has a vent as to not create a vacuum. My older chickens are having a hard time catching on with it. All the younger ones have had them for a while.

    "Dropping a wing"

That's kinda what I was thinking, thank you. He hasn't been aggressive toward me or any human as far as I know. He's not overly aggressive with the hens. The juveniles, however, have been handed a solid drubbing by him a few times. Just plain brutal, I think he would have killed them if I...
