    Prolapsed Vent Won't Stay Put

Yes, she is eating and drinking but the tissue has changed from bright red to dull pink and that worries me.

    Prolapsed tissue- coloration ?

I posted a few days ago about my prolapsed chicken. I have been trying preparation h and replacing the prolapse several times a day...but it is getting smaller. (It reappears when she defacates). At first the tissue was bright red and wet looking........nowthe center appears more of a light...

Please...my pet chicken is eggbound...time is of the essence

Have you considered asking a vet to x-ray the chicken to see if there is an egg inside? I would think even if they don't do birds that they would be able to tell if there was an egg inside versus a tumor, fluid, etc.

Scalped 2 month old chick! *With graphic pic*

As I mentioned before, the skin did grow back on my chicks head and bare bone was visible in that case as well.......I could see her skull perfectly....no tissue left on it.....and the skin and feathers grew back. Maybe it was an exceptional case but it returned to normal in my bird's case...

    Prolapsed Vent Won't Stay Put

After the one egg that got stuck the other day, she hasn't tried to lay another one. She hasn't been in total darkness either....about 8 hours a day of light. I did notice that after I push the tissue back in, it pops back out when she defecates and it stays out. Is that normal for a...

    HELP Beloved EE losing weight!

I've had good luck feeding sick birds hard boiled eggs. I would also think it should be able to eat crumble poultry feed as long as the dish is deep enough to stick the beak into a pile of crumble.

Scalped 2 month old chick! *With graphic pic*

I hate to be the odd man out but if the chick doesn't seem to be in pain, you may want to wait and see how it does. I had a very small chick (could sit in the palm of your hand) get completely scalped once. I had made the mistake of putting 2 batches of mothers/chicks in the same small cage...

    Prolapsed Vent Won't Stay Put

She didn't seem to be trying to expel the egg so I got it out for her (had to push the prolapsed tissue back around the egg). She hasn't tried to lay one since. A vet tech I know offered to try a stitch but that seems extreme and I don't want to go that route unless absolutely necessary. I...

    Prolapsed Vent Won't Stay Put

My silkie bantam has had a prolapsed vent for a few days now. I am not sure what caused it. She was egg bound yesterday but that was after she had prolapsed. I have pushed the prolapse back in several times a day but it keeps coming back out (not immediately though...perhaps when she poops?)...

Help please, Eggbound, tried lots of things, WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURE

This exact thing happened to one of my bantam silkies yesterday. I put on some latex surgical gloves, lubbed them up as well as the prolapsed vent......and was able to gently (with one index finger on each side) push the red tissue back around the egg. I did this very slowly and the bird...
