Cedar Creek Hatchery - KEEP AWAY!

Hello all! I usually only post positive reviews but I have waited almost a year to see how this would play out. I ordered from Cedar Creek in Feb of 2014. Paid in full at the time of order. I was told the chicks would be sent in March, emailed at beginning of March to get an approximate date. A...

Hen(?) from animal shelter, is she actually a hen & what breed?

I have all of them together, so I don't know who parents are for sure. I can tell you that a dominique x ameraucana will give you a pale olive egg.

Golden Laced Wyandotte, Black Copper Marans, and Dominique roosters over Welsummer, Cochin, Leghorn, Ameraucana, and Silver Laced Wyandotte hens. I have had some very interesting colors come out of my mixed flock.

It looks like a hen to me, also. I have hatched many mixed breeds (which is what she looks like to me) and sometimes the pullets will get tail feathers that look very long at first. If this chicken is at least 3 months old, I would bet my money that it is a hen.

Maybe a red sex link, aka red star, or rhode island red or new hampshire. It looks now like it will end up being red.

Turkens have no feathering on their necks. It kind of looks like an Aseel or Malay.

    Help Identifying Extra Packing Chick

Hi there, sorry it took so long to reply. An Ameraucana should have "muffs" under their chins, and a pea comb, so I don't think it is that. Could be an easter egger, they don't always have muffs. Too young to tell if it is a cockerel or not. You can tell at 12 weeks, if the saddle feathers are...

    Help Identifying Extra Packing Chick

I have no idea what breed it is, but the coloring looks like a wheaten pattern. I have wheaten marans chicks and they look very much like that one. See if the hatchery has any birds in that color. Maybe it will solve the mystery!

    Possible sick chicken.

Hi, did you smell her head? If it smells rotten, it is infectious coryza. You can treat with Tylan 200. You can also look it up online to give you more info about it. If there is no smell, I'm not sure what it could be:( Good luck.
