I’m not sure where the ‘2’ year egg laying comes from, perhaps a misunderstanding caused by commercial hen keepers. Our hens frequently live to 15 years & some still lay giant eggs once in a while

The age old question: who did it?

Long ago, a weasel killed our rooster & ate only the head…got in during the day by chewing through wire cloth. Tiny hole!

Coop cleaning, how & how often?

Thank you for your measurements, one side is only 6” away!, the other is 8” so no wonder I have endless splats. I know what I’ll be doing next rainy day. Then I might try lime washing the walls as scrubbing doesn’t get it off…🙏🏻

Coop cleaning, how & how often?

Coop cleaning, how & how often?

Well, your coop looks lovely & clean. My hens manage to splat poop up walls & all over the roosts & everywhere else...I wish mine would just poop in a poop tray 🙄. Love your laying baskets 👏

Official BYC Poll: How do you name your pet chickens?

When we first had a few hens they all had names. Now we have 35 & my memories sieve like…the Marans, are the Baguette sisters, Welsummers, the Kellogg sisters etc etc. Works for us
