    Double Laced Barnevelders are very beautiful and docile chickens. They have a rich and deep cluck, are big and good layers of huge brown eggs. They are one of my favourite breeds, I used to have one.

    Keeping chicks warm with no power

    Try putting a soft cotton blanket in the run so the chicks can snuggle up on. From my experience, chicks love soft cloths.

I planned to get a Buff Orpington 20 week pullet for her, because their website said they had orpingtons. When I got there, the owner said they didn't stock Orpingtons anymore...

    If you've handled him from since he was young, there is a possiblity that he won't be highly aggressive. Has he lived with the hens for long?

    What's that gobbling in my chicken yard?

    After raising some chicks, I can sometimes hear my hen trying to mimic the rooster's crowing (usually at 6am). Chickens are smart animals.
