    Change of venue

I’ve had these cuties now for about a month. They were a few weeks old when we got them. My how they have grown!! I’ve been keeping them in my tub at night and bring them outside for the better part of the day. We have a nice routine- I fill the tub for them to swim in the morning give them some...

    Very sick hen!!! VIDEO too

Thank you all for your help. I really thought we had turned a corner with her. Her breathing improved greatly but she just never gained her strength back and died yesterday. So far none of the other chickens are sick so hopefully it was nothing contagious

    Very sick hen!!! VIDEO too

Thank you Wyopr Rock! I don’t think I feel anything swollen or abnormal on her abdomen or anywhere else. Crop feels empty to me. She weighs 4.6lbs. I gave her .4 ml of tylan 200 (it’s all I have) orally. I made her some electrolyte water but she’s not interested. Poor thing 😭

I gave her some tylan in the hopes of saving her if it’s a respiratory disease (though I’m not too certain she’s going to make it!!). She sounds horrible!! Any thoughts what it is so...

    Sick Roo

About 3 days ago we noticed our normally very attentive roo not watching his girls and literally sleeping on the job - just sleeping in random places around the yard (Our flock is free range). That’s when we knew something was up with him. The next day his eyes were gunked up and closed so when...

    Rooster Attitude Change

Thanks for your reply! We had ordered all females, but one turned out to be the rooster . Going into this, I didn't think I wanted to deal with fertilized eggs and the crowing, but since we've raised him from a little peeper we've grown attached and really don't find the crowing annoying at all...

    Rooster Attitude Change

Hi All, We're new to raising chickens. We have 2 hens and 1 rooster, about 10 mos old Barred Rock who are free-range during the day and locked up at night. We also have 2 mini donkeys, 2 pygmy goats and 3 dogs on about 4.5 acres. Up until recently there was sweet harmony around here, but the...

    Raptors and Goats for Deterrant

Hello All, I am new to BYC and pretty new to chickens. We have 2 barred rock hens and 1 rooster all about 15 weeks old. I plan on getting 6 more hens in the spring. We also have 2 pygmy goats, which we keep with the chickens in a fenced-in, somewhat wooded ~1/10 acre area (they seem to adore...
