I did something really stupid re: sour crop

I Would not turn her upside down as you can kill her accidentally. It happens. I would go to the health food store and get a really high quality probiotic and mix it with plain yogurt and a little olive oil. If she won't eat it give it to her via syringe very carefully. You can then massage her...

I did something really stupid re: sour crop

She made it! She seems to be out I danger. She is eating on her own and drinking as well. She even laid an egg last night! I truly thought she was a gonner. Here is what I did: Scrambled egg with kefir mixed with a very potent probiotic from a capsule with olive oil and today a little coconut...

Mama hen with single duckling - is she showing it food/water?

Thanks for the reply. She is super attached to her mommy hen. I have them on non-medicated organic feed and I supplement them every day with egg yolk which I understand has the needed niacin. She is developing quite well. She is a call/runner cross..

Mama hen with single duckling - is she showing it food/water?

Thank you both. She is being a great mama. The other hatchlings did not make it. Two died trying to hatch and the rest just never hatched. I put three ameraucana bantams under her at night and she took right to them. Now I have a single duckling. Not sure what I am going to do with him/her yet...

I did something really stupid re: sour crop

Well the punctures were very, very tiny. But the bleeding beneath thre skin really freaked me out. It was so full of air I thought for sure it would deflate. I do think it did deflate a little but I hope I did not destroy her crop. I am just so worried right now.

It was in her shoulder area and very definitely coming from her crop.

I did something really stupid re: sour crop

Well, it was actually her crop i was seeing but it seemed like it was on her back because it had become so bulbous. It was actually her very inflated crop if that makes sense.

I did something really stupid re: sour crop

Hey there. I came home today to find one of my little hens with this big bubble on her back. I brought her in and tried to do some research but I was panicked and so ended up doing something stupid. I tried to puncture the bubble to relieve the pressure. I used a sterile syringe and poked a few...

Mama hen with single duckling - is she showing it food/water?

Hey there! Been a long time since I have been here but I am needing help. I have a little Cochin Banty that has been sitting on duck eggs for a while. One of them hatched early, about 26 days I believe. The others have not hatched yet and today today is the 28th day. I have been leaving them...

Help! Two have died, third is on it's way out the door!

How is your brooder set up? Could they be too hot or cold? Sometimes a few just don't make it and you never know why. Vry sorry!

    Feather eating?!?

This happened to me. I stopped it by giving them extra protein like tuna, hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese and yogurt. I also put a product I got from Murray mcmurry called Avia Charge 2000 in their water. Worked wonders!

My chicken is really poorly, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you see worms then I would think that is absolutely what is causing this. It needs to be treated asap. Do you have a farm store near? They usually have wormers there. She needs something immediately. Also you need to bring her in and get her warm and in a safe, quiet place. If you don't act...

    Chicken just sneezed this morning

I have heard good things about vetrx (from the link above). But if she was eating and stopped to sneeze that many times I bet she inhaled something up her nose and just needed to sneeze it out. I wouldn't worry about it unless she keeps doing it. I recently had a problem with sick hens. One had...
