    Silkie breeding questions!

The second words & drop down tab is in English. The mottling will not eliminate the sex linking of the chocloate when bred to non chocolate hens.

    Silkie breeding questions!

Using a chocolate rooster over (most) other colored (non choclate) hens equals sex linked chicks. Chocolate hens to any other color rooster would be recessive (not showing) chocolate and non sexlinked offspring. According to this chicken calculator (in the following link).. you will get 25%...

Splash Copper Marans with Copper Hackle Feathers

This is a rather good question! To me.. regarding copper Marans.. the blue nor the splash should eliminate the copper coloring.. and if it's not there then perhaps they're not copper but just blue or splash (black) Marans. I personally think that many novices (myself included) have bought the...

White jersey giant and chocolate Orpingtons

Congrats on your cute babies! 🥰 According to the following article and a few other resources I checked.. JG are recessive white... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/jersey-giants-chicken-breed-information.47788/ So according to my current understanding the chocolate rooster over...

how do i get the most unique colors?

I'll just add that white should probably not be discounted as part of that "rainbow basket".. it really makes the other egg colors pop! I have gotten peach and pinkish colors from Cochin.. but they were only noticeably that color in comparison to the other eggs.

Sour crop, don't know whose advice to follow

Excessive drinking is an attempt to clear a crop blockage.. it may turn sour if it's been blocked/slow for too long. I'd start by following the treatment advice for impacted crop in the following article link...

    chicken gender??

Sapphire gems are sex linked with cockerels being barred.. what you're calling polka dots. So that one is a cockerel, presuming the "breed" is accurate. ETA: what is their age?

    She or he

Definitely a male as indicated by the very pointed and flowing saddle feathers. They do not need to be rehomed together.. that's up to you. Images for example (usually accurate around 16+ weeks of age, not usually seen starting before 12 ish weeks)..

27% game bird feed for chicks

I have raised Silkies on that before. They did not really grow faster, that I can remember (it's been a really long time).. but they also did not suffer any nutrient deficiencies. While I never noted any kidney or chick issues using the gamebird starter.. that high of protein did reduce my...

Is this an Ameraucana or Easter Egger egg?

Here's a copy of the Ameraucana egg color chart from google images... However, regardless of egg color your hens feather patterns do not match any of the colors in the standard of perfection and therefore even if comb type, beard, and skin/shank color were correct they would still be Easter...

Does this egg look fertilized? Thought I had all hens!

While I also don't see any male specific saddle feathers in those pics.. I will note parthenogenesis aka self fertilization is a (known) possibility in poultry.. they may even start to develop embryos.. rarely making it all the way to hatch, but those that do hatch are usually male progeny...

1 chicken died and now another acting like this. Please help!

Sorry your pullet is unwell. It's difficult to tell from the photos, but her crop looks like it might be inflated.. which should not be the case if she's not eating or drinking.. but could be a cause of those symptoms if it's somehow gotten blocked or become sour. When you feel it, is it flat...

    Possible blood Ring?

Weight loss is only an indicator of relative humidity coupled with shell porosity and is not an indicator of the embryo growth within. Happy hatching! :jumpy

Something like Rooster Booster (brand) poultry cell or poultry booster would be good options.
