Plus i have 70 chickens and 8 ducks so far. The Cornish are the only ones that have large gizzards after eating. Only had 3 chicks die but that was due to other chickens suffocating them. So i feel I'm doing pretty good for a first timer and jumping into something i knew nothing about.
Ok I'm like 3 months new to chickens. Just making sure i understand what a crop is. I call it the gizzard or the pouch in their throat. Pretty much the place where the food is broken up by the pebbles right? Sorry if i sound stupid. I'm just trying to learn.
My bf and i had talked about eating him if he is suffering but after today I'm tempted to build a duck bassinet lol. He also lets me carry him around head on my shoulder like an infant lol
Of the day. His beak is also a pale pink color not like the other duck his age. If anyone has advice I'd listen. Also i have him a bath today and we have bonded to the point to where he snuggles up to me on the floor and sleeps on my lap. I think I'm gonna have to get diapers so he can stay...
I have an 8 week old duck that has trouble walking. He/she (not sure how to tell I'm used to cats and dogs) barely walks. Henry we will call it, gets to the food and water but the other ducks and chickens poop on him and he ends up covered in his own soiling by the end
My ducks are about 5- 6weeks old. How long should i leave them in. And also one of them is favoring a leg. Any suggestions. I assumed the water would be good therapy for him
I learned this lesson today. Woke up and the chickens we're pecking at others to the point of bleeding. Although i didn't cut the beaks i had to find a solution. I separated them and gave them toys
Now is the grit a must have? I assumed they would get what they need from the ground once they got outside. I want to try to just let them live a natural life without the things the people try to assume they need if you know what i mean. My bf wants to clip their wings but i just want them to...
Oatmeal and eggs this morning, oregano water, kale, green beans, and rasberries for their evening snack. and the piggie had his morning tomatoes along with chips some beef fat plus whatever his daddy have him before he worked on the pen.
Yes i have a garage. Isn't that too cold for them though. It's been below 20 a few days this week during the night. Or are you saying to let them roam for a few hours during the day?
