I have one or two hens that insist upon staying in the nest boxes at night, They poop in them and any eggs laid there get really filthy. Any ideas to stop them from staying there at night??
I,ve had chickens for a number of years now, and though my egg count usually decreases during the winter( i use supplemental light on a timer), I havent gotten any eggs in a week. Any way to get them laying again??
it dosent to be bothering them, and the are defecating quite regularly.Are they supposed to have clean butts? does this problem clear up? How long does it take to clear up? Thanks ED

I know this might be a silly question, but the poop seems to stick to the chix butts. Should I be remving this or let it fall off of its own free will? I hear people talking about pasty butts, and I ned to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

The only reason I have to have some kind of lid is because I dont trust the cats. An old adjustable window screen seems to work fine. Everything seems to be well. Im keeping my fingers crossed. I like your idea for towels though.
