Bought some Bantams at Tractor Supply, 3 of them are Silkies, but I can't figure out what the 4th chick is.

I have some more updates at 14 weeks, I had to rehome the grey silkie because he or she was showing signs of aggression on the white silkies after I gave their crests and beard a trim that just did not stop even after some time in chicken jail. The trim was needed for sure because they were...

Here's some more updates at 10 weeks. I had the white silkies dna tested and the results are that they are both females! I didn't get the grey one tested, so I'm still a bit unsure about it. The only ones that still seem to square up are the brahma and the grey silkie, which has me worried Grey...

I like sharing updates of how they are growing so that people in searching later on can see how the whole process of them growing has been. Here they all are at 7 weeks old, with a focus on the Dark Brahma cockerel because he is my favorite, but the silkies are cute too and I just love 'em all.

Based on his stance alone, I was leaning heavily towards cockerel. Just gonna have to hope my neighbors don't complain when he finds his voice.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I agree with Rhodebar Lover that it's a Dark Brahma Bantam, and I thought it would be cool to upload some progress pics for future people searching to identify their chicks. (And just to show off) From 3 to 5 weeks of growth. Still unsure of gender, but with a few...

Bought some Bantams at Tractor Supply, 3 of them are Silkies, but I can't figure out what the 4th chick is.

Since the last time I posted, I've become a substitute teacher and a school I subbed at happened to be right next to a Tractor Supply. So of course I made the choice of walking in after work and somehow leaving with a box of 4 bantams lol. I had to give away my entire flock last August for a...

2 suspected cockerels at 8 weeks

They were recently going through a junior molt, based on the feathers I was picking up around the area.

2 suspected cockerels at 8 weeks

Here they are again at 17 weeks, with their hackle and saddle feathers coming in. I'm really liking the coloring on the Cochin. Still no big boy noises as of yet.

    First Egg on Thanksgiving!

An update: Well, the hen that laid her first egg seems have set of a chain reaction, and now I have at least 2 more layers, or maybe more since I've gotten 3 eggs a day for the past 2 days. Most of them have been in the nest box, while I've found 2 in their run. So far, they've tasted great!

    First Egg on Thanksgiving!

At 26 weeks and 3 days, I have my first egg! The girls have been squatting for weeks now, and I thought I wasn't going to get any eggs this year at all with the days getting shorter, but here we are. I have 2 separate flocks, 3 Production Red and 3 Barred Rocks in the first flock, and a mix of...

2 suspected cockerels at 8 weeks

Here they are at 12 weeks, and I am now absolutely 100% sure they are both Cockerels. They have made any grown up noises yet, but I am looking forward to it!

14 week old Buff Orpington pullet with bubbly tears, also noticeably smaller and lighter than the other Buff Orpington from the same hatch.

Update: Sadly she has passed away as of 3 days ago. I'm not sure how, but it happened in isolation. I don't think she was eating or drinking based on how I was monitoring her food intake, don't know if that was a symptom or a cause.

14 week old Buff Orpington pullet with bubbly tears, also noticeably smaller and lighter than the other Buff Orpington from the same hatch.

It's really difficult to get pictures of Chickens standing still, but here she is on the left in comparison to another pullet of the same exact age. I have since separated her from the flock and started treatment with Saline/Terramycin. As for darkness around the eye, I'm not exactly sure what...
