Does anyone here know if diamond doves are dusty birds? If so, are they just as dusty as pigeons or ringneck doves? I am asking if anyone knows because there is very little information about diamond doves online. I know certain parrots like cockatiels and african greys are considered powder...
I saw a video on youtube where someone actually tamed their diamond dove to fly on their hand, and to come when they called them, I guess every bird is different
Yes it was really bad, I couldn't breathe and it scared me, I have never had that before, and I have had parakeets too, but they never bothered me. I even had a dog and a cat and I never was like that with any of them. I have no idea why I reacted like that with the ringneck dove, especially...
Yes, I recently bought a white ringneck dove to keep as a pet inside my house. I found out I was very allergic to her and had to re-home her. My lungs would close up whenever I was around her. I have never had asthma before so I went to the doctor, and he told me I didn't have actual asthma...
actually the weird thing is no, I have had diamonds in the past and they never bothered me at all, but the ringneck doves bothered my lungs - something about their dust, they are bigger and dustier than the diamonds. I don't understand it but I know I can't own ringnecks because of it.
that is very sad and disturbing. I know PETA has some videos about the suppliers for petco animals but I wasn't sure how accurate those videos were, but they were very disturbing, have you ever seen those videos?
They are very sweet looking too :) unfortunately I am allergic to ringneck doves so I am assuming I am probably allergic to pigeons because they are just as dusty. I am not sure, I have never had one though.
Oh wow, that is sad! They must be delicate birds! But I can totally understand, everytime I go to petsmart there are always big dogs barking and little kids running around, so yes that could definitely stress the doves out. The doves at the petsmart where I live seem very healthy - they don't...
aww thats too bad, maybe they are just that type of bird. I still love them though even if they are like that, but I guess if you want a more interactive bird probably choose a budgie or similar
