    What's on these yolks?

I noticed today that one of the female ancona's is sneezing? I'm guessing I should probably have a vet take a look at her.

    What's on these yolks?

They could be called hens, not sure. Our newest ducks just started laying this week. So I know it's one of the 2 ancona's. (these eggs were from 2-3 weeks ago). Thanks for your help. I'll check out that link.

    What's on these yolks?

Is there a way to determine which duck is laying the bad eggs with out seperating her? ( I don't really have another place to put them). Some of our yolks have been green lately. I had read that it could be from eating acorns????

    What's on these yolks?

A couple of the yolks had these. We did not eat them. Anyone know what it might be? Just curious. Thanks.

    New to Ancona ducks

Your best bet on sexing them is waiting until they get their quack, maybe around 6 weeks or so. A female will have a loud strong quack and a male will be quieter and raspy. When they become sexually mature around 20-24 weeks the male will have 1-3 tail feathers that curl up. They can be sexed...

    Introducing Ducks to Chickens

I recently put my ducklings in with my older ducks and I was unsure how to keep the feed separated. But someone on here suggested a mix flock feed. Both the ducklings and older ducks can eat it.

    Fleas!!!

Do you just bathe them in it? I give the dogs a bath with dawn dish soap and then use the diatomaceous earth on them after they have dried off.

Best pen to have and raise ducks???

Will you be building a deck? Here's what we did with ours. There is a small coop inside the run. This gives them plenty of room. But we do let them out and forage in the yard while it is light out.

    Fleas!!!

You can try diatomaceous earth. It shouldn't hurt them at all as they add it into livestock feed. We've been using it on our dogs because I don't like to use chemicals. You can purchase it at Tractor Supply.

    Introducing Ducks to Chickens

Just be sure that the food is not medicated. Some chicken feed is medicated and it can make the ducks sick!

Concrete flooring, NEED ADVICE PLEASE HELP

I have a small section in my run with concrete and was told to cover it or it could cause bumble foot. If you do put concrete you should cover it with straw or those rubber mats.

    Chickens and Ducks

Yes, a drake can kill a female chicken.

5 week old ducks, just put them outside.

Ah, I can see where that could be a problem. Our youngest child is 9 so I don't have to worry there. And for some reason my cats and dogs don't bother them at all either. Actually our Boston Terrier was extremely protective of the ducklings. She would hover near them and not let the cats...

Winter Duck Set Up for Northern Climates (Upper Midwest)

Thanks! We have a faucet under there which is great, but it's not going to help us in the winter either. For the winter you could put straw down. When it gets too poopy just rake it out.

    Should I get ducks?

Ducks are great! We originally decided to get ducks for the eggs. And we decided on ducks rather than chickens because my husband and I both think ducks are cuter. :) They don't have to have a pool or pond, although they would love to have one. We have ours set up on a pallet and we...
