You may recall I posted a thread abou t a found fowl and the consensus was it is likely a white coturnix quail... Well, I came home yesterday from a short trip to find she left me these:
Yep, I know. Big, too. I don't think there I'd a "city" of Cameron Park. I think Placerville and South Lake Tahoe are the only cities. I checked the county codes and theres nothing specifically addressing chickens. If you live on an acre or more, they permit a stable, so I think a coop...
No, I'm in california. The four inches guess is probably about right. Should I put up a "found quail" poster? I have no idea how valuable they are beyond pet affection, I just don't want thee little guy to feel out of sorts unnecessarily...
I found this little guy in the backyard of our rental property in a residential neighborhood. I posted in the chicken breed section, but pretty compelling evidence suggests it might be a quail. True? Any idea of species? Should I keep it?
well what a dumb plucker I am, I can't tell the difference between a chicken and a quail... I don't know about keeping it, because I really want egg laying hens. After looking at that site, though, I doubt it is a native species, so letting it go probably isn't a good idea...
