    Since you said you only need two times the size of the tractor - doesn't that mean you would just move it between two spots? How often would you move it then, to keep grass from being killed?

    OH!! Thank you! An image of one of those is what made me want to breed chickens, period. But I didn't know what breed it was. My best guess was a Silver Laced Wyandotte, but it was definitely this. Moving to the top of my list to find!

    Ooh silver laced anything are some of my favorite so far.. and I was just looking at pictures of barred rocks earlier, their feather patterns are so cool. I really want to see that cross grown up!

    I did read that on another thread! I think I'm going to order a couple of assorted chicks (hopefully all hens) for my first batch.. make sure I don't hate taking care of them.. then hopefully eventually get one/two Roosters (if the collars work well enough) and start dabbling in very small...

    Are yours close to the hens, like they can see and hear them and they are still ok? Because if necessary I might have the option of keeping a 2-3 roosters in a cock-flock with a family member who has no hens.. and just borrow them from time to time for breeding. Not ideal as it is imposing on...

    Personal preference.. And if I get more than one rooster, I want to control which one breeds with which hen... But I'll have to come up with something else if it would be bad to have them alone, that's why I asked.
