Update on Sunflower. She still looks and acts great. Eating and drinking as usual. Her poop has firmed up a bit. She is still coughing and doing the unusual head jerk movement like she’s trying to shake something off. She does most pronounced coughing and head movements towards end of video.

I did change bedding back in February as well. I used to use hay which is expensive and causes me hay fever. I switched to Patterson pellets (saw dust pellets) and large flake pine shavings. Just sharing in case all the pine could be an issue. But wouldn’t I have seen signs of respiratory...

We brought new birds home back in February and they have been in with my established flock of girls (sunflower is one of the established flock) since April. My son’s turkeys came home today AFTER our Sunflower has been sick days.

I feed them purina layena pellets (not crumble because they all cough and sneeze with crumble). They’ve been on this feed for. Couple of years now.

No I have never had them tested. I have been doing chickens only for four years and never had any issues that required vet care. I have had one with sour crop and treated her myself with the help of a friend and a diy video. Do you think it’s worms?

She does have diarrhea too. I watched videos of gapeworm. She doesn’t do that gasping thing with her head and beak. So I don’t think (praying) it’s not gapeworm.

I can’t hear anything in the video. She shakes her head like that though.

Okay. I have had birds in past who had a white silvery look to their ears. Her Is this a better shot? Got it from video clip. Zoomed in.

I will try to get a better shot of her ears in the morning. I heard her cough last Friday but thought it was from dust from the feed.

Cleaned her vent. Obvious now that it is certainly diarrhea. Her vent is clear and looks good. I need to trim feathers around her bum and give her yogurt until I have better advice here from others knowledgeable about what we are dealing with here.

I have a chicken that is about a year old. Americauna hen named Sunflower. She has started coughing and is wheezy if you hold her up close you can hear the wheezing. She does a head jerk thing when coughing. Her eyes and nose are clear. She does not have drainage from eyes or nasal...
