i have a broody austrolorp she was found laying on about 14 eggs. but where she was laying is where i had chicks die last time because they couldn't get out easily and there was no water. I tried moving her and isolating her to another location and she didn't like it and has abandoned the nest...
I just purchased 2 rhode island chicks and 2 buffs. I've set them up in the garage and two days later I started noticing one of the rhode island chicks was head down standing in the corner and getting pecked. I've adopted her into my personal care now with extra tlc, I dont know if she's ill or...
Shes doing good but still walks like a duck so now we call her ducky. but she was able to manage her way back into the flock. However now I have chicken missing; no evidence or anything. could she be nesting or brooding somewhere other than the coop?
Here is a video link of her waddle. I think she's really happy and think shes ok. sometimes after i pick her up she stand like a chicken, but then she sags her butt again.
I did test ROM and didn't notice any differences other than when she perches on my arm she puts less weight on her right leg.
Still waddling like a duck. the next three days after we found her she laid an egg. i don't know if she laid an egg today, I let her wonder around the yard a bit to get some fresh air and she went under a bush for a bit today. She can see, still eating, drinking, cooing, clucking, and sleeping...
Thanks for asking!
Anna is doing good, I put some neosporin on her wound and it's healing up nicely. I haven't put her back in with the others yet as I want to wait until the wound is healed.
She waddles like a duck at the moment, but she's eating, drinking and laying eggs! The other day she...
well, yes, being in the country we have hawks, skunks, cats, dogs, and coons. but the dogs i know wouldn't go near them. i'll just have to keep a closer eye on them.
i don't know whether to clean her or just let her take care of her wounds herself and just keep her isolated and well fed...
This is the best pic I have currently. I do have a rooster but the flock wasnt in their yard today and this morning they were all happy under the trees at the top of the pasture.
Ithink it was a predator of somesort. When I feed her tomorrow ill try get a better pucture of her skin.
Today i found my golden sexlink in the middle of my neighbors yard. At first I thought she was randomly sitting on some eggs or something because I've had issues with them not laying in their coop, which is another issue entirely.
Anyway, as I approached her she was sitting funny. She was...
Oh thank you for messaging me :)
I was thinking about keeping them locked in their coop for morning hours because they're usually done laying by noon. so i will try this tonight and see how it goes in the morning.
We live in the country and we and the neighbors have anywhere between 1 and 3...
I have 9 chickens and have taken them off grain for about 3 weeks. It's summer and there are a lot of apricots and good grass and alfalfa combination they feed on.
when we let them free range again for the summer and took them off grain the egg production started to go way down. We used to...
