I live in Purcellville, VA and have a couple of 13-week old cockerels that need homes, but they're not Brahmas.... One is a silver phoenix and one is a silkie/cochin cross. They are both nice guys and have been hand-raised. Let me know if you're interested and I'd be happy to get them to you!
I have a sweet little silver phoenix cockerel that needs a long-term home somewhere that allows roosters. He is ~12 weeks now and was hand raised. Though he's not cuddly, he is interested in being around people and a calm bird. His tail is a beautiful beetle black with green iridescence and his...
I have a sweet little silver phoenix cockerel that needs a long-term home somewhere that allows roosters. He is 12 weeks now and was hand raised. Though he's not cuddly, he is interested in being around people. We call him Fluffball, which doesn't suit him at all! He reminds me a lot of a wild...
Looking for a flock to join, meet our 2 good-natured, adorable cockerels. Date of hatch April 19, 2020 (12 weeks).
We hatched these two cuties from a friend who has a mixed flock and hand raised them. Her rooster is a black silkie and the hen was either a smooth white cochin or possibly the...
Maroon spots on shoulders suddenly??!!
I thought my cochin/silkie cross was going to be white, black, or grey, but now spots of deep burgundy have appeared by his shoulders. Mom was a white cochin; dad was a black silkie.
What color would you call my little guy here? Thanks!
I have 2 super sweet cockerels (I think!) in Loudoun County, Virginia, but I'm willing to drive to deliver if you're interested. I mostly just want them to find good homes! They are 11 weeks old, silkie-cochin mixes (I guess they're satin sizzles??) One is blue splash and one is dark gray. Hand...
If you're looking for a few cute cockerels to add to your new coop, send me a message! I have 2 freakin' adorable 11 week satin frizzles (silkie-cochins) who need a good, friendly home. These guys are brothers and incredibly sweet, calm, and goofy!
This is Peppermint, my 10 week old Silkie X Cochin. Not sure if she's a pullet or he's a cockerel! But she has the funniest, fluffiest, featheriest legs and feet. I think she's the Chicken version of an Old English Sheepdog. She has to waddle when walking, picking her feet so high off the ground...
I definitely am beginning to see some more red in Peppermint's wattle this week, but not the comb.
Most alarming, Peppermint is trying to crow in the mornings! It's kind of a loud foghorn squawk kind of sound. I've heard it a few different times, but was able to confirm it was coming from...
Ok, I'm a chicken genetics novice. But I need your experienced eyes and minds to help solve this riddle.
A black silkie rooster mates with a white cochin hen . They have a chick that is a 50/50 silkie/cochin mix.
The black silkie mates with both mother and daughter hens.
Two similar sized eggs...
Thanks! The red one is just a red cochin pullet -- she's the only one I'm sure is a pullet. The 2 gray/black birds are cochin/silkie mixes (no idea what sex they are, either). I don't have a picture of them standing up, but their legs are so fluffy and funny!
