yes he has both rir and light sussex roosters - any confirmation on the sex ?

I think he has both, light sussex and rir.... But he is not sure what the eggs are from. I thought the black feathers on the neck might be clue to someone ? Any ideas about the sex ? .. Comb looks large but I don,t see any tail feathers, ,it's not crowing but feet look big ... So I all confused ?

This is my chick now ... At approx 12 weeks .... Still not sure if mail or female..... Or what breed.. I'm thinking a cross between rir and light sussex ... The black feathers on the neck .... No crowing though ..... Any ideas ? Thanks

What breed do you think it is ? I thought it had all the colourings of a leghorn ... And the brown coloured feathers in front I thought it was female ? What aspects of it make you say it is a male ? Thanks

Thanks KYTinPusher - it also seems if the water might flow out as i go to either side - but I'll try it. I had a home made one before this and rarely had to open it - it seems I have to open his every time I need to put in water ? If you are online I'd love to hear how you operate yours ...

Ya - thanks that makes sense .... But i thought i should be turning them a full 180 degrees ? One side - then straight - then the other side will not be 180 - I think ? Should I be turning them 180 ?

I've got a brinsea octagon 20 incubator. It does not have a cradle or auto egg turner. Can some one tell me what is the correct method for manually turning the eggs with this model. I have the instructions manual but it implies it has an auto egg turner - else ' turn manually' - but how do I...

It was a brown egg ...Cant say if it was dark brown or not ? It's the egg on the middle of the row on the left of the picture.

Thanks ChickenCanoe, Remember this period was for one week (the seond week) not the full 21 days ... So I assumed they would loose maybe 6% on the first week as well and may be more on the 3rd week. I suppose what I am saying is that as saw they had lost weight I assumed they were fertile and...

This is a follow-on from my earlier thread "Problems and questions with first hatch" In sumary I put nine eggs in. I didnt candle - I don't know exactly how .. So not sure all were fertile On day 20 one chick hatched ... I open bator and took him out. still alive and kicking :) Same day...
