    Thanks so much for this great description! I'm moving 3 day old chicks under my hen tonight. It's my first time doing it. The hen has never been raised chicks, but is an excellent setter. Wish me luck!

    $10 stackable bins from Lowe's. Cheap to buy, easy to clean, perfect amount of space! I've been using mine for 2 years and they still look great! For the top bins, under the wood shavings, is a 12" cement paver to weight it so that when the hens jump to the top, the whole thing doesn't topple over.

    How to keep chickens off patio?

    Has anyone tried those motion-sensored sprinklers? Some brands advertise that they have a 35 ft. sensor. That is about the length of my patio and might work to keep them off of it.
