    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I tried hatching last year and it was terrible. :( I put 14 eggs Ayam Cemani eggs under a broody Chantecler and only 1 made it out alive. We called her Lucky (and she was #13 too). 10 hatched, but I found 9 kicked out of the nest box still wet. :( Lucky only made it because I happened to check...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I don't post often but definitely search the forums often! But with the new "stay home" order I feel the need to reach out to my fellow chicken people. <3 About my current flock: I live on a small one acre homestead and have 23 laying hens and 1 rooster at the moment, but am expecting 30...

Wouldn't surprise me if she did some chick parkour and got herself into the wrong place. Ha! I got a small cream colored egg yesterday, so she may be laying. I have 3...

Thanks! I tend to pick breeds based on wanting a pretty egg basket. My husband wants funky looking breeds. Our Wyandottes and Chantecler were our first ones, which we picked up June 2017. The rest are from late Feb.

    Mystery chicken -- brabanter?

Hello! I have a 20 week old chicken that was supposed to be a Salmon Faverolle, but just isn't. She was always smaller than the rest of birds her age and when she started to get her feathers in they weren't the right color. And she doesn't have feathered feet. I've been doing some research...

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I still consider myself a newbie. I've had chickens for about 18 months now. I just now joined BYC but I've found it to be a great resource anytime I had a question. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? 13 (3) What breeds...
