    Injury care question!

Today we found one of my ladies with what looks to be a portion of her scalp missing. The bleeding has stopped but I don’t wanna mess with it too much because I’m sure it was very traumatic. We have moved her into our sunroom near a space heater because it’s quite cold out. We were advised by...

Good news! My 2nd chick has hatched some time overnight! Still having a little trouble standing but I looked at it's feet/legs and seems to look ok. Hopefully it will be a little more sturdy tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the good advise. Left it alone and it worked out so far.

Hi PA Peeps! So, I decided to let my broody SFH try to hatch some eggs and low and behold, we had a chick yesterday. This morning, the other egg she was sitting on, had a PIP. There is a hole and I can see the chick's beak. I just checked before dark and there was minimal progress but the...

    Weak chick/late hatch

So I am new to letting my hens go broody and hatching a chick, but it happened yesterday! I now have one remaining egg today where the chick poked a small hole, I pulled off a tiny bit more of the shell, but then I wasn't sure if I should help it. My hen pulled the egg back under her. I have...

Thank you for all the suggestions. We brought her into the sun room with our radiator space heater and gave her some nutri drench. Unfortunately she passed over night. :( At least she had a quiet warmer place before she left us. As soon as the storm passes, going to clean out the whole coop.

Hi, not sure if anyone can advise, but today I found one of my hens sitting on the coop floor. She is very lethargic and her combs and waddle are greyish pink. I see some poop on her behind, but she has always been our one hen who had poop on her butt and never was actually sick (since day...

Does anyone know a good butchering place near Harleysville/Quakertown/Lansdale? The one recommended by my feed store isn't doing anything until spring. The Rooster needs to go!

Thanks! It's unfortunate that the one in the front definitely needs to go into the pot. Crows all day and all night and just this morning attacked me and would not stop. Crazy thing is that the other Blue Orp seemed to attack him when he wouldn't stop attacking me.

So I didn't find a home for my Orpington rooster. Guess it's into the pot! This will be the first of our flock we eat . Question, I have one rooster and thought the second, in the back of the rooster was a hen, now I'm not so sure. Any thoughts?
