Expanding the run - predator "proofing" question

This is exactly what I was thinking! Thank you! Do you have a gate into your set up? That's one thing I am struggling with, is building a gate. I am hoping it's not too hard for this non-handy girl.

Expanding the run - predator "proofing" question

Chicken math took over this weekend. I added another 4 chicks to my flock for a total of 8. My current coop is big enough for the 8 (though if I add anymore I will have to rethink the coop size), but my run is not. Total run space is about 45 square feet. My new girls will be joining the...

Prefab Pawhut 144" coop with run

Thanks!! They use the shade a lot! Not yet. I do intend to put a higher roosting bar or maybe some sort of ladder system for roosting though.

Prefab Pawhut 144" coop with run

The portion of the run that’s all wire was prefab. We built the addition that has omg wood on the top and one side.

Prefab Pawhut 144" coop with run

Hi All, Inspired by this thread from @JerryR708 ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/pawhut-chicken-coop.1219726/#post-19503657 ) my husband and I spent about 4 weeks working on our Pawhut 144" coop with attached run (we have limited time so spent a few hours here and hour there). We...

    Coop Gadgets door?

I ended up getting a Chicken Guard door/motor kit. All in it was less than $200 shipped (even though it's made in the UK - 3 day shipping!). I am very happy with the door so far. I bought it based on recommendations I found here and elsewhere. Good luck! An auto door is a lifesaver!

What to put in coop for bedding/nesting boxes? Specific to my coop! Thanks!

My girls (4 pullets) are almost 7 weeks old, fully feathered and are being evicted from the brooder in my garage tomorrow. We just finished up their coop/run. Our run is dirt floor and are planning DLM on top so I put a thick fluffy (for now) layer of pine shavings and yard trimmings in it. Our...

Show me your food/water/grit/shell set up!

My girls (4 of them) are 5 weeks and will be going into their coop in 1-2 weeks most likely. I have seen soooo many ideas for feeders/waterers and I’m confused. Can I see some of your setups? Pros and cons? If your set up was DIY - links for tutorials you used? Thanks!

    Buff Orpingtons

And she's sweet as punch too! Funny thing is she is the most "flighty" of my girls. She screams her head off when you try to pick her up and will run away like crazy (when all of my other girls will quite literally jump into my hands!), but when she is finally being held she is very sweet.

How soon is too soon to remove heat source?

First time chicken mama here. When can I remove the heat source for my girls? I have 4, 4.5 week old pullets. They are all feathering in very well and I'd say almost completely feather (except one girls seems to be slightly behind). Anyhow, I currently have a brooder heating plate, but the girls...

    Australorps breed Thread

Vet looked at her today and remarked her skin looked good and was healing well. She said not too worry too much about it being slightly pink as it may just be from being warm, or active...she said no mites, like, infections or yeast/fungi. She said it is most likely neurological and may just be...
