    Yes - unfortunately one of our hens (who I think was the leader of the pecking order) died a couple weeks ago. But I haven't noticed this sound until more recently.

    Something very strange in the nesting box

    An egg white. Normal except it looked like it had sort of a thicker membrane around the white but if you poked it, it was just an egg white.
