I have read where some people don't care to much for the new BYC forum, I found a small peafowl forum I haven't joined yet just been watching it and have noticed that some of the people on there are also on the BYC forum. This will make some of the Mods mad but here is the link...
You treat Blackhead with Metronidazole (hope it's spelt right) 250 or 500mg from your vet, if 250mg 4 tablets to 1 gallon of water if 500mg 2 tablets to 1 gallon of water changing water everday for 3 to 4 days then repeat 7 to 10 days later.
Peachicks and Poults are about the same to raise.

I did find where to get a necrospy done on him and am leaving now to drop him off but just wanted to get this post up to see if yall had any more thought on the new information I have added before I go.
Thanks so much
No, you don't have to wait like was said before Wazine don't work...
Wazine don't work on Peafowl just like giving them water, Too worm peafowl you should use Safe Guard for Goats or Panacur 3 to 4cc to 1 gallon of water for 3 to 4 days changing water everyday.
If Coccidia then use Corid 3cc to 1 gallon of water for 3 to 4 days changing water everyday.

You are on line do some web surffing on them Spalding are when you breed a Muticus type bird to any other peafowl besides Muticus, No one calls them Emerald Spaldings or Buff, Red Buff Spaldings anymore unless your just trying to make yourself look good by using the old names. Like deerman said...

From where I'm sitting looks like the only BYC member confused is you, Minxfox has photos posted showing and telling you how old her birds were when photos were taken. And not everyone goes out to take pictures everytime their peafowl loses a feather or two.
Ricky
Only in breeding season, but take the hens out and they will still get a long pretty well. But keep in mind you put a lot of boys in one place and there will still be one or two wanting to be TOP DOG "Boys will be Boys"

I will have to agree, and you have been wrong alot. You need to remember how far away you are from the states and just maybe they don't grow the same or as fast. I have had a coming 2 year old with almost a full train with lots of eyes also have had a 2 1/2 year...

First you want younger Peafowl yearlings are the best. Pen them for 7 to 8 months then just open the door and let them come and go a will and they should hang around, if you have out free range birds this will help as well.

There is NO cure the only thing you can do is to cull all of them and start over with a different blood line or keep them but don't breed so as not to hatch more blind ones, if you keep them you can never change your pen once they know where the food and water is.
Ricky
Why don't you contact the UPA and tell you are going to change the names of some of the Peafowl to suit your fancy.......... Just a thought since this is what your going to call them.
