    Sexing Easter Eggers

I’ve been noticing that my EE’s combs look more pink later in the day if they’ve been outside for a while. As opposed to when I first get to their coop in the the morning? Is a flushed comb really a thing? I had no idea!! I was worried they were getting sunburn or all cockerels lol.

Chicks lost interest in treats :/

Update! In case anyone else out there is also new to chickens might be going through something similar... My gals have once again, started eating pretty much everything/anything from my hand as a “treat” 🎊!!! All I can figure is that they must have been stressed about being moved into their...

Chicks lost interest in treats :/

Yep! Chick grit with probiotics and they love it! Just doesn’t seem to work as a treat either lol. As much as they do seem to be finicky, I wonder if it’s as much about them being very independent And wanting to get the food themselves? I.e. I left some chopped cherries in their cage and they...

Thanks for the idea! I gave it a go, Two of them were interested for a little bit but not enough to even finish the tiny amount in the palm of my hand. Which is still better then scrambled eggs or the meal worms. such picky girls... they still enthusiastically LOVE their chick starter though...

Chicks lost interest in treats :/

Thanks for the input, everyone😊. I’ve backed off for few days and then tried again with no luck. They were only getting treats once or twice a day to “practice” coming when called- maybe one or two meal worms per bird? they will eat other things just not from my hand, lol. (They don’t seem...

Chicks lost interest in treats :/

I'm new to keeping chickens and started feeding my gals meal worms after seeing a helpful post/chart on chicken treats here at byc. ( 5 EE's, going on 6 weeks old) They were immediately obsessed with them! And then randomly, one of them lost interest. And within the next few days they all did...

    New kid 👋

Thanks so much! From your experience, would you say sexing is pretty reliable? Also, I believe I’ve read somewhere on BYC that EE pullets and cockerels become more distinguishable at around four weeks do you feel that’s pretty true?
