I also have a guinea fowl with this problem. It is definitely not bumble foot because there is no sore or scab around the area and the swelling covers the whole foot. Any one???? help... :(

I also put a momentary contact switch, just in case if any chickens or guineas happen to be under the door. But I have the door closing 45 mins after dark, so usually non of them are ever...

Don't worry My pullets did not lay until they were 24 weeks old. I was begining to worry about some of the pullets that still haven't laid any eggs, but they pulled through at 30 weeks.

Thank you for your responses! I live in Kansas, and last year we got about a foot and half of snow... so not sure if the sand would be too cold for the chickens... I think it got to -13 degrees F also...
