Luckily the crop seems to have emptied on its own, but I will still keep an eye on it in case it needs treated again. As for the fenbendazole, I gave her the paste - approximately a pea sized amount - for four days straight. With her most recent dosage being about 3 days ago.
Will the four days...
Hey y'all.
My 2-3 year old hen, who I believe is an ISA Brown, has been having some health issues as of late. She started losing weight within the past few months, but it wasn't very much so I didn't think a lot of it. I noticed however that she has recently become very light and she seems...
Nope! Both of mine ended up being female. I hear that polish are rather tricky to sex sometimes. As far as I know crests aren't a reliable method of sexing them until they are close to maturity.
It seems like a lot of people are recommending temporary separation. I have 2 coops but one of them houses the adult chickens and the other smaller coop houses the 6 week old pullets and cockerel, so they are both occupied. I suppose I could try to make a divider in the run for the adult...
My rooster just turned a year old a few weeks ago. I do have saddles on the hens that have it worst but they often get flipped up and it doesn't really seem to stop it from getting worse. It may sound trivial but whether or not the hens are bothered by it I hate seeing their good looks ruined by...
Hey y'all
My year old rooster Sandy has been overmating some of my hens pretty severely. It started a few months ago and wasn't bad at first, but now I have 3 hens with bare backs, and 1 with completely bare back and sides. It's not uncommon that when he wants to mate he will chase down his...
Hello.
I've noticed that my 3.5 week old chick (who I think is a lavender orpington) has started to develop a larger comb than its brooder-mates, and is developing some size and color in the wattles. They have also been rather slow to feather. Can anyone tell yet if this bird is a male? Or is...
After looking at some pictures I would say that out of the two it looks more like a lavender orpington. If it is one I would be very happy! I've always wanted a lavender orpington.
I just got this chick from my local Atwoods three days ago, and I'm not sure exactly what breed it is. The bin said something along the lines of "specialty breed pullet", but obviously that doesn't tell me very much. Can anyone make a good guess on what breed it is?
