Here is a better picture of the black one pictured above that was fuzzy. And a picture of the 3rd black I mentioned above with the fluffy cheeks and fluff under her beak.
So I am questioning the breed of hens I have and my one roo. I know what I was told but wanted to come here to verify. The last black hen has a feathery floop on her head. I have one other black hen that has fluffy cheeks and a fluffy beard. First picture is my only rooster.
Hi, I am now trying to figure out if this is a hen or roo. And what kind of cochin. We got this one and it's brother from an auction and both were supposed to be girls. The black and white one we have is for sure a roo. But wanted to verify this one for sure. Thank you for all the help!
Hi I have 2 rhole island red chicks and 2 black star chicks they are about 4 months old now I'm trying to figure out if they are pullets or Cockrell. Any help would be wonderful. None have started crowing but they do sound like my hens.
Here is a picture from this morning. The feathers don't appear to be pointed, but rounded and the black markings make them look pointed. That one also doesn't have the same feather texture the red one has or the the other male, the wet looking feathers.
That is what I keep waiting for, that's how we found out that our barred rock was a roo not a pullet. But I haven't heard anything except the same noises my hens make from them. Here are 2 other closer ups of the black and white one. I see what you mean by the wet looking feathers, I don't think...
