Hey all, I have my first hatch underway and it’s going goo so far. 20 eggs so far I have 9 hatched and two pipping. The 9 in the incubator right now are full of energy and knocking around the other eggs pretty good. Will this effect the rest of the eggs from hatching ? Also I would like to take...

Young chickens avoiding the older ones.

I was out little later for work today and my wife put everyone back in the run this evening and left the door to the coop open. I was pleasantly surprised to find the little ones in the coop and snuggled up against the older girls keeping warm. It’s a cooler night tonight. My older girl have a...

Young chickens avoiding the older ones.

We have four. I don’t think they are keeping them from going I just think their presence of being in there is the issue ha ha. Once they get in there the little snuggle right close to the big girls just in the other side of the mesh.

Young chickens avoiding the older ones.

Hey everyone, or four 7 weeks old girls won’t go into the coop at night with the older girls. They will just stay outside and I have to push them in the door at night. Is this normal or is there something I can do to help them. They are in the coop separated with the look but don’t touch method...

    Adding to my flock

Day 2 and the little ones are in the run playing around. I’ve been letting the big girl I once and a while to see the little one outside the coop with no barrier. Just little pecks here an there but mostly becasue the young ones are curious ha ha. If I let the little one out to free range around...

    Adding to my flock

Perfect that is exactly what I’m doing for them right now. I cornered off one corner of our coop with some chicken fence so the big one can see them and not touch. When the big girls are free ranging I was thinking of letting the little one in the run to get some play time outside. Think that...

How long for laying hens to get settled in ?

It’s fully caged and enclosed. No roof on the run and there is a hinged door that opens from the outside and stay open till night time. 1X6 rough pine board as a ramp to walk down for them. Not steep at all

How long for laying hens to get settled in ?

Great thank you for your response. I think they are coming around I snuck up on the coop and peaked in. I moved the nest box’s to the ground and they have started using them. 3 eggs so far. One is jumping up and down off the roosts so I’m hope the other will follow suit. They still won’t venture...
