I did buy 4 bags of feed on my last trip instead of the normal 2. It doesn’t keep forever. My main reason is that I have a drive to buy (my preferred) feed, and since I’ve been laid off work and Church is closed, I won’t be able to stop on a combined trip.
As far as the OP, last year I planted...
I was going to say 11-20 years then I read the part about taking a break so I got to choose 21-50 years, thinking of my own flocks as an adult.
My flock now is small (usually under 20 in a coop/run) but I have usually had around 100 free-ranging.
I got started with chickens when I was given...

If you get more hens ...
Our coop housed around 100 with at least 5 mature roosters With lots of space to free range, they would take their own girls (or whoever they could entice) and separate into different areas. Also with...
Underpants lol ... I think that was autocorrect and I was falling asleep. I meant underparts and my phone does want to make it "underpants". Maybe I should start calling the chicken's lower areas underpants. :D
Sounds like fun. :) We got really good utility hens on the farm by breeding for that. Every once in awhile a real beauty would pop up. I had one with pretty laced feathers - kind of creamy reddish - and green legs ... and my husband got up early one day and accidentally grabbed her when he was...
I was just looking where it says a splash hen with a black rooster gives 100% blue? But then I have no idea what that (mostly black) rooster really was. That's one reason I switched out for the BO.
Though that's kind of strange. Her eggs should have hatched 100% blue with the old rooster. Then again he was - I don't know what he was. The barred rock chicks we got from that lady weren't and I don't have any of them anymore.
I don't know. The hen should have slightly better breeding. We...
And someday, someday ... I might just play with intentionally raising chickens for color. I have some favorite breeds I'd love to try with. But I've always kept most of mine in large communities and just bred for egg production and large bodies.
I do love the colors that can happen though. From...
Ah I see ... found a chart with some simple info. I see how we got him. I thought that splash silkie was the mother. (We redistribute eggs for hatching and rarely hatch silkie eggs.)
And there are some REALLY pretty chickens with a nice blue color I see. I was searching "gray" and finding...
