    How to Stop a Bobcat

Every night something eats one of my chickens. I'm thinking its a bobcat because my husband seen one in our yard a couple of times. My chickens are in a pen with a six foot high fence that's connected to a barn. I don't know how to stop whatever is eating them. Any ideas?

Feel like quitting!! My gorgeous bourbon red stag 'Clyde' killed and stolen.

That is so sad. I can't believe someone would do that. But don't give up. Giving up would cut off all chances of having fun with your birds completely. Something keeps killing my silkies, and it seems hopeless to ever have a nice flock of silkies, but I rather try because I love silkies. I'm...

    Can't Keep My Silkie's Safe

I have been trying to keep some silkies in a barn I have. But something always comes in an kills my hens. It leaves the rooster alone....(the coward isn't doing a very good job protecting his hens)....but it always kills my beautiful hens. What can I do? Do you think a big duck or goose will help?

Positive. He acts like one, looks like one, and he crows.

    Amazing Silkie

I've heard that silkies aren't supposed to be very good layers. I got silkies cuz I thought they were cute, not cuz I wanted eggs from them. I have one cute black silkie hen, and a white silkie rooster. (My other hen got killed). She started laying eggs a few weeks ago; and she has done...

    Want Call Duck Info

I suppose the mom calls aren't very broody? Why are they so hard to hatch in an incubator?

    How Much to Feed

I suppose that's the way I should go. I don't actually have feeders, and so I just give them a portion every day. Obviously its not enough.

    Silkie thread!

You got some awesome silkies! I hope my girls grow up to be that beautiful. They seem to be turning out pretty nice and fluffy.

    Want Call Duck Info

I have a great fascination for the adorable call ducks. I was wondering if anyone has any information/pictures of them. I read somewhere that they are easily tamed, but that they are hard to raise/breed.

    How Much to Feed

I was wondering how much I should feed my chickens. In one pen I have 11 Australorps, 2 barred rocks, and 1 dominique. They never seem to get full. The australorps are still growing, are quite active, and very lean. I want to fatten them up but don't know how. They never seem full! Right now I'm...

When to take Chicks off of Chick Starter

Well. I'm raising my chicks for layer....but quite a bit of them ended up being roosters and so they will I guess be considered "eaters" cuz I plan on eating every one of them if I can't sell them.

When to take Chicks off of Chick Starter

I've been wondering when I should take my chicks off of chick starter. And once I take them off, what should I buy for them? Chicken scratch? (They are already eating scraps all the time along with their chick starter. I think they're about 8 to 9 weeks old right now.)

    Silkie Gender

Here's my two white silkie beauties. I was wondering if anyone can tell if they are roosters or hens. I'm thinking at least one of them is a hen. Here's the two together: Here's the chick that's farther to the right in the above picture: (I'm thinking this is a roo) Here's the other one.

Young Australorp Chicks -- Roosters or Hens?

They are only about five weeks. YIKES! I don't know what to do. The lady I got them had ordered tons of chicks from a hatchery.....I think it was a hatchery. I hope she hadn't ordered all roosters. Every single one of them...and I have twelve....have descended combs, some more larger than...
