Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me with my hens. I have 4 eight month old EE's, 1 eight month old SLW and 2 3 month old Brahmas. In the past couple of weeks all of them (other than the Brahmas) have completely stopped laying. They also seem to be losing some weight, but not that much...

    Hen door

I close my hen door and have an additional lock on it as well. I just want to make sure if a predator gets in the run they wont get in the coop! We call our coop Fort Purdue :)

    Orange Possum

We are new chicken owners and I have been very worried about night attacks from predators even though we keep the girls in a closed coop each night. Our house is on stilts and our living area is on the second floor with a large deck around the full length of the back of my house with no stairs...

How much DE should I use in a dust bath?

What are the other ways? We don't have mites or lice but I also want to take preventative measures so my girls don't get them. I have 5 17 week olds and I would like to make a dust bath for them but I am concerned about the amount of DE to use in it. Everywhere that I have read they say "sprinkle" the DE but I would like to know exactly how much to use so I don't put too much and hurt my girls. Can someone define a...

    Flock O' Forbes New Coop

So here it is! With the arrival of our babies (2 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 3 EE's) on November 16th my husband started the coop plans. He and I scowered the internet trying to find a design that we liked and my husband came across "the one" and here is what the outcome was..... The...

    Good or bad idea?

I personally would not use this as a coop. Mainly because it offers not predator proofing.
