Flora Vale Fowl Rise & Shine Pallet Coop reporting in! I wrote a big build blog article out when I finished it several years ago. We're professional artists and craftspeople and we think our coop says that! So here it is all the details...

Need an experienced opinion on a late wound care.

Oh no. It's a hunk of living skin. It will bleed. I am certain of it. She won't like, neither will I, but she will certainly feel a lot of pain, etc. It's the size of wattle. So, imagine cutting one of those off! With feathers. But the resulting wound will only be a half inch big. We can stop...

Need an experienced opinion on a late wound care.

We had a girl get scalped by the rooster. Upon review we learned this happens. We were out of town. Our chicken sitter covered it in Blu-kote and put her in our isolation pen, attached to the run. She has healed up nicely, the skin grew back and feathers came in. The "nursery" as we call has an...

Flora Vale Farmestead's Rise & Shine Pallet Coop

It's been ages in coming, but I wanted to share my final, finished, and updated Coop Build article. The Rise & Shine Coop for Flora Vale Farmstead has taken a year and half to complete, but well worth it. With the roof finally on, and the tarps finally off, the build article could be written. So...

Leghorn/Golden Laced Wyandotte 4 week old gender?

Yes, I had that feeling. Sigh. My little girl isn't going to be happy. Hell, I ain't happy. I mean, if he grows up to be a perfect gentleman, and we could socialize with him just like we get to with the ladies currently....like THAT'S gonna happen! Thank you. Anyone else, please feel free...

Leghorn/Golden Laced Wyandotte 4 week old gender?

Dixie, our one surviving chick from a clutch of fertile eggs hatched just after we culled it's father, with it's adopted mother, Ditzy. So hoping it's a pullet, as we would love to keep it, but loving not having a roo these days. Let us know your opinion.

    Show off your roosters

Memento Mori. He was a good boy and did his job, but, was too aggressive to humans, and had to go. If you would like to make donations, in his memory, to help the hens get by in their time of loss, please send them via PayPal to Mythicaldesigns at gmail dot com. Donations will go towards...

    Saving feathers from my rooster.

So, we have a roo. He needs to go. Reasons are various. We both have skills and although this will be our first bird to process, I have worked with animals and hunted a lot. So the killing and processing isn't the question. It's the best way to save the feathers for processing. We are crafts...

Yet another integrating thread! Questions, we gots them!

Yes, we do temporary runs for the day a lot. Just run some wire and netting, etc. However, the answer to "What Chicken Predators do you have?" for us, is "All of them" including 2 legged ones. Yep. Appalachian mtns. Coons, Skunks, Possums, Weasels, Bobcats, Bears, Cats, Dogs, Coyotes, Hawks...

Yet another integrating thread! Questions, we gots them!

Yes, about the Roo. He is going. We had thought to keep him until we were done integrating. I know they can be an assistant to that. Line all the ladies up and tell them he thinks their pretty and shouldn't fight. He is rough with us, but we manage him, however, don't want him around, as we...
