    After building my coop and buying all the feed and supplies, $3/bird doesn't even come close! Turns out there was some kind of mix up with ordering from the hatchery. Very disappointed but what can you do? On the hunt for hens!

    2 of 3 of my 10 week old EE's are crowing... The multi-colored one just started and the mostly black bird has been crowing since about 3-4 weeks old !

    My EE's are so noisy in the brooder, too! They're about 4 weeks old but I'm thinking one may be a rooster because "she" is the only one who makes this shrill noise that could be the start of a crow...     Hi Mary! Yes, new rolls of hardware cloth are already in the garage for them! How did you attach the hardware cloth to the wood? I'm trying to figure out how to securely attach it to the wooden frames I'm building for the run. Also, could you recommend any locks to keep the predators out?

    Thanks, Ellie J. When you say the roof has wiring, are you referring to the top being covered in chicken wire/hardware cloth? And then I'm assuming you have 2x4s on top of that, which the galvanized sheet metal is drilled to?
