TSC schedule is 9 weeks of chicks beginning last week of february. They will stop for the summer and then pick back up again last week of August or first week of September
Yeap, my TSC gets cornish x chicks every wednesday...so if you wait a week and on tuesday's if they still have some, which is almost always the case you can get week old cornish x for $1 a piece.
Thinking of doing my next batch of four on cracked corn only. Bag says it is 7% protein. I don't care if they grow slower by feeding them this, just wondering if anyone else has done it and what the results were...
I keep food out for my six layers all day and take it up at night and they go through a 50 lb bag a month. Does anyone feed your layers less or what do you do?
I think that might have been me that said "assuming you can find feed for $0.25 per pound" How in the world and what brand of food did you find for $10 for a 50 lb bag??!! I need to know! I use Dumor 20 percent from TSC and it cost me $0.38 per pound.
Terrible rain here where I am...how do you keep your meaties dry if you have them in a wire grow out pen or tractor? I have a tarp of a portion of the grow out pen and a plastic 55 gallon drum with shavings in it for them as their shelter (4 cornish x) but it still got water in the barrel and...
I wouldn't worry about food laws or anything of the sort...how is anyone purchasing a plate going to know where they came from? What is some government official going to show up and ask to see your receipt from walmart where you purchased the chicken...NO!
I purchased four cornish x chicks on 2/28 and bought only one 50 lb bag of chick starter/grower 20%. When they finish that bag, I will get a bag of cracked corn and finish them off with it.
Dang! I would pray! You'll have $3.75 in each bird in food costs alone...assuming you can get it for $0.25 a pound for the feed. Do you think you would get $10 a bird...? If so, you are only looking at raising $1,800. Man, that is going to be a tremendous amount of work on processing them...
