    I hatched out a Wheaton a couple of years ago, and the day she laid her first egg, a beautiful A7, a chicken hawk killed her! I was so sad

    You are right, and these were my quitters, also they were not washed just wiped a bit before I incubated them, so the color wasn't as true as it would have been had they been washed, they are a bit stained.

    Optycal, here is a pic of 6 of the 12 eggs I just hatched out. I know for a fact that they come from an Ameraucana breeder, I know locally. I think they can come in really blue to slightly blue green, almost a sea foam green. I would hatch them out just to see!!

    Yeah, I don't love the bator, although I don't really have problems regulating the temp and humidity in this one. I would invest in a different one, but I only hatch eggs once a year, every other year, so it's served its purpose. My first hatch 2 years ago yielded 5 of 18, but those were...

    I saw the pics on their website, they didn't show the bellies though. I was on the fence about them being black or brown red, just wanted some other opinions

    New babies!!!! 4 of 12 hatched in my little giant, not a great hatch rate. We lost one when the other chicks flipped its pip over and I think it suffocated in the night, that was sad, we would have had 5. I believe they are Black Ameraucanas, Now let's hope they aren't all Roos!!!

    Can anyone tell me if black Ameraucana chicks have light yellow bellies with a black stripe up the middle? The chicks I have hatched all have the yellowish bib but I wasn't sure if the belly color was an indicator as well?
