Thank you for the reply.. she's the sweetest, gentle hen ever....was. If she was bigger we'd all be dead meat now! she's super protective of that little one now
I have a hen with one week old chick. We made a separate chicken coop and run for her because the other hens were very aggressive and killed 2 of her other chicks. Now she wont leave the enclosure with her chick at all. Its hot here up to 108 and I'm afraid of her overheating but when we try...
We heard screaming and then a roo with a badly swollen leg. He was fine before. Have no idea what happened. Not sure if the leg is broken. We’re isolating him and giving aspirin. Any ideas on what else we can do for him
I did, I had them on starter food but they ate from the big girl feeder. I usually give them scratch every morning and mix a few sunflower seed into they’re food. Thanks for replying! Don’t want to lose anymore.
Around 4 months old, they are eating later food along with the older hens. Black sunflower seed and meal worms for treats. They forage a lot but with winter coming pretty slim.
We had a young chicken up and die on us. We did a narcolepsy on it and It was actually a rooster. all the organs looked good except maybe the heart. It looks like a blood clot in it. If any can confirm that’s what it looks like to them I would appreciate it. Sorry if the pic upsets anyone.
thanks.
