i have noticed that although there are only a few posts on this thread that it does get read by a large number of people so i wanted to add that, peppered throughout other threads california whites are frequently mentioned as the favorite within the mixed flock, they seem to stand out as...
i have read this thread and somewhere in it is information about reduced humidity at lockdown or something similar which is a key to their hatch.
(consider the environment they are acclimatized to)
at least 2 people who have been on this thread sell eggs on ebay and they do it weekly so they...

someone spent a serious amount of time to produce a breed which seemed really remarkable.
i have taken a chicken break for many months, but i am back and

that was quite unexpected. a woman out west has tried to convince me to get the 'grey over the jaerhon
because they are so calm...an account on another thread said that the cal whites where the calmest of his

it would be nice to know from everyone here how well they feel the cal grey forages - i have been unable to find information on this
and first hand testimony is better than any other source.
compare their ability to another well known breed recognized for foraging if you could.

last year they where selling their cal greys under the name production black as well, using the same photo for both.
this year they changed it to barred legrn using the same photo. the only thing i am sure that they really have is the cal grey because of
oldtime' on this thread, he would know...
professor dryden worked hard to make this one of the ultimate back yard / farm chickens in a time way before factory type production birds.
a couple of the characteristics should be:
layer longevity (in years) - the opposite of prolapse problems.
and a calm bird, with the intention of being good...
